Yes I wrote a day later, I am sorry. But man i have a lot to say!!! This week was the end of my first transfer! AND (drum roll please) I am staying here with Kusilek!!!!!!! Ah I couldn't be more happy!!!! and also another amazing bit of news, yesterday right after studies we got a call from another Hermana who is whitewashing (missionary term, sorry) with a mini missionary and needed a place to stay that night, so she was going to stay with us then go to la paz. Our mission has a lot of mini missionaries, which are Argentine people around our age who just volunteer 6 weeks of their life and go on a transfer with a missionary. it sounds like it would be a lot of fun when i know more Spanish. but when we were on the phone we said "wait, you are in Rosario picking her up? could you bring our letters...." (because they weren't supposed to come for another 2 weeks) and they did!!!! it was my first time recieveing mail in my mission!!!!! i stayed up all night talking to the other sisters (who are SOOOO cool!!!!) and reading. oops, you shouldn't stay up all night, but the lights were out and i was using the street lights to read. it was a good night for sure ;-) lots and lots of fun.
this week has just been a blast. all week i have just had a wonderful time with Kusilek and the members and investigators and literally everyday has been so happy and fun. I was getting worried on saturday because i was sure that meant she was going to be leaving, so to know that she was staying made me the happiest little Yankee in the whole country of Argentina.
So this will make all my fellow runner friends super happy to hear and possibly move to Argentina. I totally lucked out with a comp that goes running with me every morning, and we live across the street from a hipodrimo. in English, that means horse race track. so this horse race track is open to the public and is a mile long!!!! can you believe that? a mile of a dirt track! and we run just on the inside while on one side people are practicing racing horses and on the other is a huge field where horses graze. running there right at sunrise is like heaven. it is literally put there because God loves me.
One day this week we ate tacos for lunch! i was so excited because tacos like don't exist here and this family made them special for us. it was so nice of them. i loaded it with salsa that she said she made and i was like "ahhh i haven't had salsa in soo long!!!" then i took a bite, and it was straight up ketchup. haha tacos with ketchup is not the best. people here really have no idea what salsa is. it just made me laugh. but we really lucked out with lunch appts this week (esp with investigators) because we have had no money at all. our fridge has nothing. when i say nothing, i mean nothing. i have a picture to prove it, but this computer wont load pictures....arg....
I am really happy we are together this transfer for Cesear. he is fantastic. he is so ready to be baptized but is having a hard time giving up Catholicism because his mom is very catholic. its hard for people to give that up here. i respect a ton that people are religious here but i feel almost how they are about Catholicism is more like a political thing. i don't know, its just odd. it doesn't feel like a religion here. i just feel so much more love from Christ when I think about The amazing gift of the restoration was and how we know our answers by praying directly to God. Teaching people that is the best.
We contacted a FOOL this week!!! I got to be a lot better at it. I just love it when after we get the door slammed in our face a few times, someone will finally let us in and just be so grateful for our presence. people here are so loving. and some are very blunt and rude. my favorite response to someone shutting us down (which we have gotten a few times) is "no hay nadie!" which means "no one is home" haha we just laugh. what a silly thing to say.
Thank you again for all the love. I really just felt so overwhelmed because sometimes I just go on and work here and just think im forgotten, but all the letters just made me so happy and know that the Lord shows his love to me in so many ways. I couldn't be more grateful for everyone in my life. And everyone who has written me knows that God loves them and that just makes me so happy because it is so true!!! He loves you SOO much!!! I love to contact people actually who say they are atheist because then i just say "sé que hay un Dios, y él le ama usted mucho!" and actually a lot of our success comes from those contacts. they are the ones I've seen mighty changes of hearts.
I love you all!!! Keep being amazing and hope you have a wonderful week.
Hermana Collins
