A little disturbed...

March 28, 2011

So I have a story to begin with. This week was really good, and weird. I love being a missionary but some crazy things happen sometimes. We went to go eat lunch with this family we eat lunch with every week, and we sat down and looked at the food. I was warned about this meal. It looks just like a long cake with vanilla frosting on it, but the "frosting" is mayo, smothered over potatoes, with hard boiled eggs on top. I looked at it about to gag. so nasty. Then the 70 year old lady who made it (and she is pretty crazy as well) said "hola hermana" and i knew she wanted me to greet and beso her. but right when i turned my head to see her, her face was right there, and we ended up smacking lips. her lips were all old and leathery and puckered and they went smack into mine!!! That was the most terrible experience of my mission so far. Hermana Kusilek could not stop laughing. I couldn't even look at her the rest of the meal because if i did she would just start laughing again. Oh so terrible...now every time i see her she says "ohh cuidado hah" and pretends to go in for the kiss again. BLEH so so so terrible.

But now for the good parts of this week! Which was a lot. It rained! lots and lots! i loved it. It was fun to strap on my rain coat and boots and walk from apt to apt in the rain. But no one leaves their house when it rains and no one answers the door as well, they all just sit inside and drink this drink called Malta (i tried it this week, it smells just like coffee but it isn't coffee. its really bitter). President and his wife came to our appts for interviews, he was really nice and it was fun. we have been working really hard and hitting the standards so it was good for him to come and see the success in our area. Oh, and Cesar got the priesthood this week :-) SUPER exciting.

One day this week those same kids who we taught to say "i want to be baptized" we taught more English lessons with. they are so cute, it is really fun. they set up a desk and chalk board area for us and we teach them really simple things, and they are working really hard to learn English. i think of how smart they are for learning so young. we are 2 people who would love to teach them for free, and they are totally taking perfect advantage of that. I think if i was that age i wouldn't care at all. I have a lot of respect for them. And we also teach them how to pray in English and they get really excited to do that. I just love teaching them a ton, makes me realize that i love being a teacher.

Today we played basketball at the sweet wood court for a long time. I'm beat but it was so fun. Is anyone else stoked for conference??? its gonna be SWEET!!!

Oh this week i received letters!!! THANK YOU! Made me such a happy little hermana. i am sending a nice big bunch of letters today :-)

I love you all so much, keep cheering for BYU for me, and thank you for keeping me in your prayers.
