What A Week!

Wow, who says a college student has to be in college to still get no sleep? That was me last week. It was so much fun (as has been a lot of my summer) and quite epic to recap. Let's see if any of this can even be recapped. Here we go!
--Sunday June 27th, 10:38pm--I had just barely arrived home from a trip to Oregon. It was very lovely but I was tired and ready to relax and prep for the next week (oh boy was I wrong). That's when I had the knock on my door, only to see my friends KP and Trapper. "Grab your swim suit, get in the car. You will miss work tomorrow. You will never regret it". I would classify that as a kidnapping, right?
--Monday June 28th, 6:45am--
We arrived at Flaming Gorge in Whyoming-slash-Utah at about 4am, and slept on this nice ledge until the sun came up over the cliffs. This picture is only a snippit of how beautiful it was there. We got up and met with about 5 other families that were there with a ton of super fun kids. I love kids. Maybe because sometimes I am one. But I could play with kids all day. We cliff jumped, skipped rocks, played a horse shoe/cornwall type of game, BOATED!, and I wake boarded as well as slalom skied, relaxed in the sun, got a stellar tan, and then we hit the road back home. Bed time that night--2:30am. Turns out it is hard to sleep with a sunburn...
--Tuesday June 29th, 6:54pm--
I drove up to Alpine to see my wonderful friend Stacy. While there, we went to her wards activity and made lizard bracelets. So much fun. I kinda got addicted...so I will never allow myself to buy the stuff to make them so I can avoid that addiction. Stacy is such an amazing friend :-) Later I saw my friend Trevor, and we drove around until I thought I was going to wet my pants. I finally made him pull over so I could pee by the side of the stadium. I think I have squatted and peed more this year than my entire life to that point combined. Bed time that night--3:37am.
--Wednesday June 30th, 9:14pm--
I went to the legendary "spot" in Provo. This spot is the reason why I smell constantly like campfire. This spot is the place where I felt like a man and chopped wood (after slightly chopping my ankle). This spot is the 2nd coolest place in provo for me (the first is remained a secret but to a select few). I love coming here with a bunch of friends to sit around the campfire and make hot dogs or marshmallows or roasted star burst. And there is a trampoline!!! I love that trampoline. That night was especially fun for me. Bed time that night--3:06am.

Kevin- Hi-ya Hilary! You havin a nice Canada Day eh?
Me- Absolutely! What do we do on Canada Day exactly?
Kevin- Well, ya see eh, it's a great holiday to respect us Canadians eh. You come and celebrate?
Me- Sorry, I work till 5pm. And I have been out sorta late this whole week so I should go to bed.
Kevin- Nope. Don't be a hoser. You are coming. Oh and ps, can you bring some of my friends? You're a doll eh.
Well, needless to say, Canada Day was a blast. Who woulda ever thought? The party took place in this amazing mansion in Park City (seriously, the biggest and nicest home I have ever been in) and we ate Canadian Steak, Canadian root beer, and were going to make Canadian French Toast. We sang "O Canada" several times, and had a blast. Driving back was fun too singing to more Canadian songs. Bed time that night--2:47am.
--Friday July 2nd, 3:25pm--
Work was very slow this day, and my boss could see my head bobbing down on my desk. She let me go home and take a nice afternoon nap. It felt great! After my nap I met with a friend in my ward and we went to eat at this cool mexican place in Orem, then long boarded down some hills. Twas fun. But I liked our spontaneous hike we took to this cool gazebo after. He had to go do a rafting tour, so he left and I went on a little run. That is when the WEIRDEST thing happened to me! I was running hills, and this other girl was walking up and down the hill as well. She finally stopped me while I was running and asked me if I was engaged or married. I told her no, I was nice and single. She then said that she thought I looked cute and athletic and wanted to set me up with her friend. Random right?! I found out the guy she wants to set me up with is an engineer major, so I told her to have him come in my office sometime so I can check him out haha.
--later that Evening, 2:28am--
After my run I went and played some intense basketball with a bunch of friends, and then to cool off we went swimming--which also turned into some intense games. My friend who owns "the spot" said that soon the trampoline was going to have to go, because they were going to put cattle in the field. SOooooo.....we decided as the last night the tramp could be there, to go and sleep on it! It never is the most comfortable night sleep, but it is also so nice to wake up to the warm sun just beating down on you. Bed time that night--probably after the tossing and turning and bouncing well after 4am.
--Saturday July 3rd, 7:49am--
The scorching sun awoke us all, and we decided to go to my friends Brian's to have a nice breakfast. He made us pancakes, bacon, orange juice, and eggs from his farm in Texas. I was going to go and take a nap after, but MARLEE came in for the weekend!!! We reunited and swam in our pool, then went shopping. Yes, I know I am poor, but shopping once every forever is ok right? After shopping we went to Payson to visit some friends and play with their kids (and their enormous dog) and then to the way other direction in Alpine to do some bike jumps! I'll post the video of the jump I did; let me tell you how terrifying it was! The only other people who did it were tough dudes, and they were pretty scared to do it too. What have I turned into, an adrenaline junkie?
--That Same day, 8:36pm--
We (the friends I have been with most of the week: Brian, Kenna, Phil, and Bryce, as well as Marlee) took off on our much delayed hike to watch the fireworks on top of Squaw Peak. Kenna found what was supposed to be an easier and quicker trail, but took us to the wrong peak. So we decided we would find our own path down and climb up the needed peak. Except, the path down turned out to be a steep ridge of shale rocks that would slide under your feet. That 400m took us about an hour to get down, and resulted in some nice battle wounds. Totally worth it tho! The view of the fireworks (which we got to see just in time) was phenomenal. We saw the fireworks from Stadium of Fire, and the show in Lehi, and the show at Thanksgiving point, and the show in Draper (which came over the mountian), and the little fireworks in peoples yards, AND all the traffic from stadium of fire. The hike got to be very tiring at the end, but camping in a meadow near the top was great. I just love being out in nature, round a campfire, then rolled in my mummy sack sleeping bag. Look who has kept their goal of camping a lot this summer! I am proud of myself I must say. The morning came, and we packed up and strolled down the mountain back home to head to church. Bed time that night--1:58am.
--Sunday July 4th, 4:35pm--
What did I do on the 4th? No fireworks, no BBQs, no huge celebrations. Nope, I relaxed with my two best friends Marlee and Ashely before they took off to do their camps that week. It was so great to spend time with them. After, I visited some other friends I haven't seen in a while, and of course, got caught up in talking to a few of them. Bed time that night--1:25am. They had some cool pictures to show me dangit...
--Monday July 5th, 5:15am--
Curse you alarm!!! I had to set it so early so I could pick up my registration for the 10k I was doing that morning. Why a 10k Hilary??? A 5k would have felt so much nicer. I did not feel much ready to run it, but did anyways. The plethora of hot-air balloons in the sky made it much worth it for me tho. I ran my little heart out, and didn't do as well as I hoped. Hmm, maybe due to a little bit of lack of sleep? Or sleeping on the ground and a trampoline this week? Who knows. I'll get a trophy next year. Then I went to breakfast with my friend and their family who ran in the race (I was just too tired to watch the parade) and then PLANNED on taking a nap, except they asked if I wanted to go on a hike instead. Psh, it's a holiday. I'm not supposed to sleep the day away! On the little hike I went, and loved it. Look at how cool this waterfall is! Physically, as well as mentally, I was SPENT. I went home, took a nap, was up for 2 hours, then went to bed--giving myself the 14 hours of sleep that I needed.

This was one of the most adventurous, spontaneous, yet fun weeks I have had this summer. Now I am going to sleep all this week so I can hike the 6th tallest mountain this Saturday!!!

{I've gotta do all my hiking and crazy outdoor stuff now, because I might not be here in the fall, and possibly won't be able to camp for a year and a half. Shhhh}
